Black Youth Outreach Program
AEARA, in partnership with key community organizations and Federal departments including Public Safety Canada, has launched the Black Youth Outreach Program. This initiative addresses the systemic barriers faced by Black youth (of African, Caribbean, and European descent) and their families, aiming to reduce risk factors that often lead to criminalization.
Program Objectives
- Opportunity Assessment and Awareness Building: The program identifies opportunities for Black youth to build resilience, develop critical decision-making skills, and experience positive growth. Through specially designed materials and activities, it fosters empowerment and community connection.
- Reducing Risk, Increasing Protection: With a strong focus on resources and tools, the program aims to increase protective factors for youth, helping them navigate and combat the challenges posed by systemic inequalities.
This comprehensive support network provides Black youth with the resources and guidance needed to thrive, ensuring a safer, more inclusive community for all.
