Creative media art and film project

Building on AEARA’s Tier 1 Youth Outreach Program, this new project targets youth aged 16-24, providing them with opportunities in Media and Film as a pathway to overcome systemic barriers that often lead to criminalization. This innovative program aims to inspire marginalized youth by engaging them in creative fields, offering hands-on experience and guidance from top-tier professionals in the industry.

Program Highlights

  • Skill Development with Professional Mentors: Youth participants will receive instruction from highly skilled media and film professionals. This mentorship provides valuable technical and creative training, giving participants a solid foundation to explore further education or career paths.
  • Preparation for Post-Secondary and Career Opportunities: With exposure to creative industries, the program opens doors to post-secondary pursuits and professional opportunities, preparing youth for success in a competitive, media-driven world.
  • Local Focus, Broader Inclusion: Based in Miramichi, NB, the program strengthens local resources while remaining inclusive. Although designed with a focus on marginalized youth, the program will eventually welcome all youth, promoting a more cohesive, supportive community.

By empowering marginalized youth with skills in Media and Film, AEARA’s program not only fosters creativity but also supports youth in overcoming social barriers, paving the way for brighter futures.

Parent’s Testimonial

    Hello CMAP,

I’m pleased to share our experience with the AEARA Creative Media Art program on behalf of my boys, Dawn and Jason. Over the past year, the program has made a significant impact on their creative growth.

Creativity Unleashed: The program has ignited their creativity, allowing them to explore new techniques in video editing and digital storytelling.

Skill Development: They’ve developed vital skills in using media arts tools and software—competencies that will surely be beneficial in their future endeavors.

Inspirational Mentorship: The instructor (Lanre)  has been a fantastic and very patient mentor, offering guidance that has kept my boys engaged and excited about their projects.

Dawn takes better pictures/shots now using just my phone. As a matter of fact, he’s the photographer/videographer of the family. Jason won’t stop talking about a new video he wants to make on Capcut (he says uncle
Lanre said they should practice anytime they learn a new technique. I’ve never seen him so excited about learning like he is with CMAP.

    So, thank you!
